During the tour, we will visit several formal sanctuary sites where visitors should pay serious attention to the dress. In detail, shorts, mini skirts, or tank-top aren’t suitable when being in the worshipping/sanctuary area.
8.30-10.30: We will first visit Ho Chi Minh Complex which is an important place for pilgrimage. Ho Chi Minh (also known as Uncle Ho), the very first president of Vietnam and hero of the national revolution, devoted his life to liberate the Vietnamese people.
Firstly, you will enter the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where you have a chance to admire the embalmed body of Uncle Ho. Actually, in the will, Uncle Ho asked for a simple funeral and wanted to be cremated, however, to let people from all the country and future generation can see him, the Mausoleum was built in 1973 with the great help of Soviet Union in order to preserve the body of Uncle Ho.
The Mausoleum is located on the Ba Dinh Square where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on Sep 2nd, 1945 – marking the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Walking through the Square, you will be the grand yellow building which is the Presidential Palace This building was designed by a German architect for a French Indochina Governor. Inaugurating in 1900 and completed in 1906, It was the most expensive construction at that time in Vietnam. The materials for construction like brick, wood were made in Vietnam while the steels, glasses… were brought from French and other countries.
Following the pathway with many giant trees, you will reach House 54 and House on stilt where Ho Chi Minh chose to live after refusing to stay at the Palace. These houses are excellent examples of uncle Ho’s simple life. Sometimes, it’s too simple to think it’s the house of a president.
On the way out, we will visit the One Pillar Pagoda which was built in 1049, under the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. Initially, the pagoda was likely to be a group of constructions including the main pagoda and a tower located in the heart of a square lake. The whole complex was formerly known as Dien Huu (meaning long-lasting happiness) pagoda and Lien Hoa (lotus flower) tower, but almost people have called the tower as the One-pillar pagoda.
10.30-12.00: Our city tour continues visiting the Museum of Ethnology which is the largest museum in Hanoi with both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. Therefore, there are many students now coming here to pray before participating in the examination.
