Your 10-day journey starts at Hanoi, Northern Vietnam. After landing at Noi Bai International Airport, you will be picked up by a tour guide who will be holding your name board on his/her hands. Therefore, after collecting your luggage and proceed with the customs declaration process, you need to look for your name board at the arrival gate. The tour guide, along with the driver, will transfer you to the city center for hotel check-in.

It is kindly noted that the check-in time is any time after 14.00. You will have time to rest before joining several slight activities in the afternoon.

16.00: The tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby, then take you for walking around the city center. You will walk to several famous places such as the Sword Lake, 36 ancient streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Walking is the best way to explore the “sidewalk culture” in the bustling city, as well as admire the old architecture, “A house in a house” which is narrow, but the most expensive in Hanoi.

The walking tour will stop at a theatre where you will watch a traditional art performance of “Water Puppet Show” accompanied by live music.

After the show, you will be taken to a local restaurant to enjoy the welcome dinner.

Enjoy the rest of the day on your own. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi city tour (B, L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel in Hanoi

8.30: In the morning, you have breakfast at your hotel before your private tour guide picks you up to start the Hanoi full-day city tour.

During the tour, we will visit several formal sanctuary sites where visitors should pay serious attention to the dress. In detail, shorts, mini skirts, or tank-top aren’t suitable when being in the worshipping/sanctuary area.

8.30-10.30: We will first visit Ho Chi Minh Complex which is an important place for pilgrimage. Ho Chi Minh (also known as Uncle Ho), the very first president of Vietnam and hero of the national revolution, devoted his life to liberate the Vietnamese people.

Firstly, you will enter the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where you have a chance to admire the embalmed body of Uncle Ho. Actually, in the will, Uncle Ho asked for a simple funeral and wanted to be cremated, however, to let people from all the country and future generation can see him, the Mausoleum was built in 1973 with the great help of Soviet Union in order to preserve the body of Uncle Ho.

The Mausoleum is located on the Ba Dinh Square where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on Sep 2nd, 1945 – marking the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Walking through the Square, you will be the grand yellow building which is the Presidential Palace This building was designed by a German architect for a French Indochina Governor. Inaugurating in 1900 and completed in 1906, It was the most expensive construction at that time in Vietnam. The materials for construction like brick, wood were made in Vietnam while the steels, glasses… were brought from French and other countries.

Following the pathway with many giant trees, you will reach House 54 and House on stilt where Ho Chi Minh chose to live after refusing to stay at the Palace. These houses are excellent examples of uncle Ho’s simple life. Sometimes, it’s too simple to think it’s the house of a president.

On the way out, we will visit the One Pillar Pagoda which was built in 1049, under the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. Initially, the pagoda was likely to be a group of constructions including the main pagoda and a tower located in the heart of a square lake. The whole complex was formerly known as Dien Huu (meaning long-lasting happiness) pagoda and Lien Hoa (lotus flower) tower, but almost people have called the tower as the One-pillar pagoda.

10.30-12.00: Our city tour continues visiting the Museum of Ethnology which is the largest museum in Hanoi with both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. The Museum provides in-depth information about 54 different ethnic groups in the whole country of Vietnam. In fact, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology plays an important role in preserving and presenting the cultural heritage of various ethnic groups which has been faded by modern life.

12.30: Lunch will be served at a local restaurant with Vietnamese traditional food.

14.00: After taking a rest, you will pay a visit to the Temple of Literature dating back to the 1070s. The Temple of Literature is a place to worship Confucius as well as reflect the influence of Confucianism over the imperial society. Besides the role of a temple, it is considered as the first university in Vietnam where thousands of talented students were trained. Therefore, there are many students now coming here to pray before participating in the examination.

15.30: We will head to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda located on a small island in the middle of West Lake which is the biggest lake in Hanoi. Being famous for sacred sanctuary and stunning scenery, Tran Quoc Pagoda has become a favorite place both for sightseeing and praying especially in special festivals such as Tet holiday and full moon days. Therefore, when visiting this 1500-year-old pagoda, you have a chance to watch local people practicing their religion and belief.

Tran Quoc pagoda is the final destination of the city tour. After that, you will be driven back to your hotel. The rest of the day is your free time. It is recommended for you to stroll around Hanoi’s Old Quarter and taste local street food.
